This move signals the end of the golden age of handheld gaming, where powerful, affordable devices flooded the market. The Steam Deck's price hike, along with similar increases from competitors like the ASUS ROG Ally, means that the dream of a cheap, all-in-one portable gaming rig is fading. Enthusiasts will still buy these devices, but the mainstream boom is already cooling.
