IO Interactive, the studio behind the acclaimed Hitman series, is developing a new James Bond game that aims to deliver the ultimate secret agent fantasy. Players will step into the shoes of a young Bond, earning his 00 status in a high-stakes, globe-trotting adventure.
The game prioritizes stealth and player choice, allowing for multiple approaches to missions—whether through silent takedowns, social infiltration, or explosive action. The developers have emphasized crafting a “modern, fresh” Bond story while honoring the franchise’s iconic elements.
"We want to create a Bond game for today's audience, but also one that feels like a classic James Bond adventure," said IO Interactive's CEO.
The game will feature a standalone narrative, not tied to any existing film, giving the team creative freedom. Early previews highlight a mix of cinematic set-pieces and open-ended sandbox levels reminiscent of the Hitman series, with a focus on interactive environments and gadget use.
While no release date has been announced, the project is in development for next-gen consoles and PC. Fans have long awaited a AAA Bond game, and early signs point to this being the definitive experience.
