Thomas Bangalter, one half of the legendary electronic duo Daft Punk, has announced his upcoming album Mirage – Ballet For 16 Dancers, set for release on June 5. The album will be available digitally, on vinyl, CD, and a limited edition Revox Tape.
The project is a collaboration with choreographer Damien Jalet and contemporary artist Kōhei Nawa, for which Bangalter composed and performed a minimalist electronic score that mirrors the "changing states" of a ballet for 16 dancers.
As a first preview, Bangalter released the atmospheric track 'Mirage: Part II' today (April 24). This marks his latest solo work since Daft Punk's breakup in 2021, following his soundtrack for the film DAAAAAALÍ.
