Three siblings died from electrocution inside their apartment in Quezon City on Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The victims were identified as John Mark, 12; Mary Joy, 10; and Ben, 7. They were found unconscious by their mother when she returned home from work around 8:00 p.m.
Initial investigation revealed that the children had been using a hair dryer near a water container when the incident occurred. The mother rushed them to the hospital but they were declared dead on arrival due to severe electric shock.
"Our preliminary findings show that the hair dryer might have come into contact with water, causing a short circuit and electrocuting the victims," said Police Captain Maria Santos, the case investigator.
Neighbors expressed shock and grief over the tragic incident. The family had recently moved into the apartment. Authorities are looking into possible violations of electrical safety standards in the building.
