Tom Cruise is set to soar back into the cockpit as Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the upcoming "Top Gun 3."
Paramount Pictures made the official announcement during their CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, confirming the actor will reprise his iconic role as the daring jet fighter pilot.
The sequel, "Top Gun: Maverick," released in 2022, marked Cruise's return to the character after more than 30 years, following the original 1986 film. It became the highest-grossing opening weekend of his four-decade career, earning $134 million.
In that film, Maverick was tasked with training a new generation of elite pilots for a critical mission. Details regarding the plot, release date, and additional cast for the third installment have not yet been disclosed.
