A senior leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has been killed in a joint military operation in Nigeria's Borno state, according to officials from Nigeria and the United States.
The militant, identified as Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, was a key figure in the group's West African operations, described as a "shadow commander" by authorities.
The operation marks a significant blow to ISIL's activities in the region, where the group has been responsible for numerous attacks and destabilization efforts.
