Toulouse Shock Hull to End Seven-Game Losing Streak

Toulouse Olympique snapped a seven-match losing streak with a gritty 12-4 victory over Hull FC at the MKM Stadium, moving two points clear of the Super League basement.

Despite Hull's hopes of climbing into the top half after a dominant win over Castleford last week, they delivered a flat and predictable performance. Toulouse seized control early, scoring two tries in the opening 10 minutes through full-back Olly Ashall-Bott and loose-forward Joe Cator, both converted by Jake Shorrocks.

Hull responded with a first-half try from veteran winger Tom Briscoe in the 32nd minute, but that was their only coherent attack of the half. The hosts' frustration grew as they lost second-row Connor Bailey to a suspected broken collarbone and were booed off at halftime.

The second half saw Hull pile on pressure, but Toulouse's defense held firm. Ashall-Bott made crucial interventions to deny Lewis Martin twice in the final 15 minutes, preserving the visitors' lead.

"It wasn't a great game to be part of," said Hull interim head coach Andy Last. "We got a great crowd in but we didn't give them great moments to sing and get behind. I was really, really disappointed with the performance."

The win lifts Toulouse above Huddersfield Giants in the standings, while Hull face a two-week break before hosting Bradford Bulls on May 17.
