Tragedy in Brooklyn: Man Charged in Gang-Related Shooting That Killed Infant in Stroller

A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a seven-month-old baby who was sitting in her stroller in New York City. Amuri Greene faces three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with the death of Kaori Patterson-Moore on April 1.

Greene pleaded not guilty during a court appearance on Friday, according to CBS News. Police investigators believe the infant was an unintended victim in what appears to be a gang-related shooting.

Surveillance footage from the incident shows two men riding a motorcycle against traffic in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. A passenger on the back of the vehicle reportedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire. Authorities identified Greene as the suspected shooter, who was thrown from the motorcycle after the incident and taken to a hospital, where he was placed in police custody.

In addition to the murder charges, Greene also pleaded not guilty to five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of assault.

A second suspect, 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez, was arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the shooting. Police believe Rodriguez was driving the motorcycle during the incident. After the gunfire, the driver reportedly crashed into oncoming traffic and fled the scene.

Family members and community supporters gathered for a candlelight vigil on Friday night at the corner where the shooting occurred, creating a growing memorial to honor the young victim.
