A family's day at the beach turned into a nightmare when a massive log fell on a 6-year-old boy, killing him in a freak accident in Bellingham, Washington.
Killian Gonzales was exploring a driftwood fort with his sister and babysitter at Little Squalicum Beach last week when a large log suddenly collapsed, striking him in the back of the head and trapping him under a pile of debris.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and performed life-saving measures. Killian was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after his parents reached the beach. He remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for several days before succumbing to his injuries, his family confirmed.
Now, the community is rallying around the grieving family. A GoFundMe campaign has already raised over $46,000 to help cover medical expenses and other costs.
