Tristan Thompson Seeks Conservatorship Over Brother Amari Amid Khloe Kardashian's Caregiving Role

NBA star Tristan Thompson has filed for a limited conservatorship over his 19-year-old brother, Amari Thompson, who suffers from an intellectual disability and developmental delay, according to court documents obtained by E! News. The filing states that Amari is unable to handle financial transactions, live independently, or care for his personal needs, relying on caretakers including Tristan.

Tristan shares daughter True, 8, and son Tatum, 3, with ex Khloe Kardashian, who has been open about her involvement in caring for Amari following the sudden death of his and Tristan's mother, Andrea Thompson, in 2023. Khloe welcomed the brothers into her Los Angeles home after the tragedy.

"I'm strong enough and brave enough to be a support system for someone else that has no other support system right now," Khloe said in a 2023 episode of The Kardashians. "You don't have to treat me right for me to treat you right—it's not the way I was raised."

Tristan was previously granted guardianship over Amari, but due to his constant travel for basketball, Khloe noted that frequent flying was not suitable for Amari, who experiences seizures. "Amari stays in L.A. with me, and I have chosen to take care of him," she shared on her Khloe in Wonder Land podcast. "I have two sensational caretakers for Amari, who I love."

Khloe expressed a sense of commitment to Andrea, whom she described as a "good friend," to look after Amari. "I still have this family that I've spent so many years with," she explained, "that my relationship with Andrea has nothing to do with Tristan."
