President Donald Trump has declared that the Strait of Hormuz is "100% shut down" as he expressed frustration with Iran's leadership, which he called disjointed, for failing to reach a deal to end a nine-week conflict that has sparked a global energy crisis.
Iran has reportedly delivered a new proposal to the United States. Meanwhile, Trump vowed to maintain a naval blockade, indicating the U.S. is not ready to end the war. "The strait is totally shut down, it's flawless. It's 100% shut down," Trump said.
It remains unclear whether Trump's remarks were in direct response to Iran's latest proposal. Both sides are engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomacy aimed at turning a fragile ceasefire into a lasting peace.
