US President Donald Trump has acknowledged receiving a new proposal from Iran concerning negotiations to end hostilities, but stated, "I'm not happy with it." Trump asserted on April 1 that "Iran has virtually no combat capability left and wants an agreement," but expressed dissatisfaction with the proposal's content, demanding that Iran "present a proper plan."
Trump revealed that phone talks continue, noting "progress in negotiations, but it's unclear whether an agreement will be reached. The Iranian leadership is fragmented and disunited." He added, "I won't let them back down halfway and have the problem resurface in three years."
Regarding US military operations, Trump claimed "overwhelming victories" in attacks on Iran and emphasized no intention of early withdrawal. When asked about resuming attacks, he said, "As a person, I don't want to do it, but it's one of the options."
Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department warned that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz could face sanctions if they pay "transit fees" to Iran. Payments via digital assets or charitable donations may also be penalized.
Despite the tensions, Trump confirmed his postponed visit to China will proceed as scheduled on April 14-15. He said the trip, originally set for late March, "will be wonderful" and indicated the Iran issue would not affect it.
