Trump Stages Dramatic Comeback to Edge Wilson in World Championship Thriller

World number one Judd Trump mounted a stunning recovery to seize a narrow 5-4 lead over Gary Wilson in their opening-round clash at the World Snooker Championship.

Wilson, ranked 27th in the world, stunned the 2019 champion by racing to a commanding 4-1 advantage, capitalizing on a sluggish start from the tournament favorite.

However, Trump showcased his championship pedigree by winning the final four frames of the session. The comeback was highlighted by a magnificent break of 128 and a solid 77, allowing him to head into the evening session with momentum firmly on his side.

"The last couple of frames have been the best I've seen from Judd for a long time," remarked seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry during the BBC broadcast.

Trump, 36, has held the world number one ranking since August 2024. A victory in this match would secure his position at the top for the foreseeable future.

In other action on Tuesday, seven-time champion Ronnie O'Sullivan is scheduled to begin his title quest against Chinese debutant He Guoqiang.
