Uber has expanded beyond ride-hailing and food delivery by venturing into the hotel industry. In a new partnership with Expedia Group, the Uber app now allows users to book rooms at over 700,000 hotels worldwide directly from the transportation platform.
According to the company, the integration — which would typically take up to a year to develop — was accelerated using artificial intelligence. The feature is initially rolling out in the United States and includes voice-activated reservations and a personalized "trip mode" that suggests hotels based on user preferences and travel history.
This move marks Uber's latest effort to become a super-app for travel, combining transportation with accommodation in a single interface. The AI-powered backend not only streamlined the technical integration but also enables real-time price comparisons and dynamic recommendations.
