UFC fighter Rose "Thug" Namajunas has shared shocking footage of a medical procedure where a silicone tube was removed from her eye, revealing the aftermath of an injury sustained during a recent fight.
Namajunas underwent canalicular tube surgery after her UFC 324 bout against Natalia Silva in January, where she was struck in the eye multiple times. The procedure was necessary to repair a torn tear duct tube.
In the video shared by the former champion, a medical professional can be seen carefully extracting the silicone tube from her eye socket. Namajunas reacted to the procedure afterward, saying, "Oh God, that is not what I thought it was gonna be."
Despite the graphic nature of the footage, Namajunas reported positive news about her recovery. She confirmed she's now "back to 100%" following the tube removal, indicating a successful healing process from the surgical intervention.
The injury occurred during her three-round fight against Silva, which she lost by decision. The eye trauma proved significant enough to require specialized surgical treatment to restore proper tear duct function.
Namajunas's willingness to share such personal medical footage provides a rare glimpse into the physical toll professional fighters endure and the recovery processes they undergo between competitions.
