Ukraine has officially called on Israel to detain a vessel suspected of transporting grain allegedly stolen by Russian forces from Ukrainian territories. In a formal request, Kyiv asked Israeli authorities to seize the ship and its cargo, collect samples of the grain, and interrogate the crew members.
The move is part of Ukraine's broader efforts to hold Russia accountable for what it describes as the systematic looting of agricultural resources during the ongoing war. Kyiv claims that Russian military personnel have been orchestrating the theft of grain from occupied regions and exporting it to international markets.
Israel has not yet publicly responded to the request. If acted upon, the seizure would mark a significant step in enforcing international trade sanctions and war crime investigations related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
