A device driver is a specialized software program that enables communication between a computer's operating system and its hardware components. Acting as a translator, the driver converts operating system instructions into commands that the hardware can understand and execute.

Every hardware device—from printers and graphics cards to keyboards and network adapters—requires a compatible driver to function properly. Without the correct driver, the operating system may not recognize the device or may be unable to use its full capabilities.

Keeping drivers up to date is crucial for system stability, security, and performance. Outdated or faulty drivers can cause crashes, hardware malfunctions, or security vulnerabilities that malicious actors may exploit.
