A panel of instructors from the University of Regina recently shared their experiences using open textbooks in a webinar hosted by the UROpenEd Program. Moderated by Cara Bradley, Research & Scholarship Librarian, and Christina Winter, Copyright and Scholarly Communications Librarian at Dr. John Archer Library, the event featured faculty members Dr. Jacqui Gagnon (Faculty of Business Administration), Dr. Harold Weger (Faculty of Science), and Dr. Mark Brigham (Faculty of Science).
The panelists discussed the benefits of open educational resources (OER), including cost savings for students and increased flexibility in course materials. They also addressed challenges such as finding suitable resources and adapting them for specific courses. The session aimed to help participants understand both the opportunities and potential areas for improvement when adopting open textbooks.
