Reaching the true ending in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tale requires unraveling the past to change the future. While Elliot can find a solution to the Kingdom of Huther's problems, a longer, more rewarding path—with extra gameplay and tougher boss fights—leads to the game's true conclusion.
Here's how to unlock the true ending without heavy spoilers.
Steps to Unlock the True Ending
- Complete quest lines in the Age of Budding, Age of Magic, and Age of Reconstruction.
- Seek out the three sages.
- Locate the Leytstaf sword.
- Gather information to save Māo.
- Face the Beast of Enmity in the Northern Tower.
- Collect cats.
Some steps can be done out of order, but it's crucial to start the Age of Budding quest line and progress until Lyudmila asks to speak privately before searching for the sages.
Start Quest Lines in Each Age
First, visit the Age of Budding (Hitoyori), Age of Magic (Weyzn), and Age of Reconstruction (Littlehope) to begin their quests. All three quest lines are complete after major events trigger in each age. The final marker occurs in the Age of Budding when the hall catches fire. Tip: Inside, push the vase to navigate through the flames and save a character.

Meet All Three Sages
Search for the Myū sages: Thiew (white), Boyne (ebony), and Wynat (tawny). Start searching only after completing the Age of Budding quest line where Lyudmila gives you the Lustrous Bell and speaking with the Ailurophilic Traveler in each of the three ages.
Order tip: Start with either the Age of Reconstruction or Age of Budding sage, as you can't reach the Age of Magic sage before meeting the other two.
- Boyne, the ebony sage – Mount Phoenix (Age of Reconstruction)
- Wynat, the tawny sage – Grandtree (Age of Budding)
- Thiew, the white sage – Geared Ruins (Age of Magic)
Gather Information
After all three quest lines are done, a new quest asks how to save Māo. Revisit the ages and talk to characters to find a way to defeat the Beast of Enmity without killing it. The answer lies in Heuria's room in the Age of Safekeeping. On the northern side, find her pendant and interact with it to trigger a cutscene and obtain the accessory.
Face the Beast of Enmity
This is a point of no return. Before entering:
- Equip the Amber Pendant accessory. Without it, you can't complete this step.
- Do NOT attack the boss.
During the fight, Elliot must use his Moon Shield. Focus on precision guards (block right after the boss glows red). Avoid regular attacks. After repelling several attacks, the fight ends.
Collect Enough Cats
After saving Māo, talk to the three sages again. They'll ask you to find Myū disguised as regular cats. You need to collect at least 15 cats (no specific ones required).
Once you have 15 cats, follow the remaining quests to reach the true ending.
