Two prominent US political commentators, Cenk Uygur and Hasan Piker, have alleged that British authorities barred them from entering the United Kingdom due to their vocal criticism of Israel.
In separate statements, both men said they were denied entry at UK border control and were told their comments about the Israeli government were the reason. The pair, known for their progressive views and large online followings, have been outspoken critics of Israeli policies in the Palestinian territories.
Uygur, co-founder of the media outlet The Young Turks, said he was turned away at Heathrow Airport despite having a valid visa. Piker, a popular Twitch streamer and political commentator, reported a similar experience at a UK port of entry.
Neither man has provided official documentation to support their claims, but both insisted they had not been given a clear explanation beyond references to their political speech. The UK Home Office has not commented on the specific cases, citing privacy rules.
The allegations have sparked debate about free speech and the UK's immigration policies towards foreign journalists and commentators.
