The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers mounted a stunning comeback to defeat the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, clinching a berth in the stepladder quarterfinals of the UAAP men's basketball tournament.
Trailing by double digits in the third quarter, UST turned up their defensive intensity and found their rhythm offensively to erase the deficit. Key plays in the final minutes sealed the victory for the Tigers, who now advance to the next round.
"I'm proud of how the team responded after a tough first half," said UST head coach. "We stayed composed and executed our game plan down the stretch."
The win sets up a stepladder quarterfinal matchup, where UST will face a higher-seeded opponent in a do-or-die battle for a Final Four spot.
