VinFast VF6 Shatters City-Centric EV Myths with Impressive Highways Performance

The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has demonstrated that its VF6 model is more than just a city runabout. In a recent real-world test, the compact SUV delivered exceptional performance beyond urban driving, proving that EVs can indeed go the distance.

During a 200-kilometer route combining city streets, expressways, and winding provincial roads, the VF6 achieved an efficiency of 5.2 km/kWh, translating to a real-world range of 280 kilometers. This performance challenges the common perception that electric vehicles are only suitable for short city trips.

The VF6's 150 kW electric motor provides brisk acceleration, and its 59.6 kWh battery pack supports DC fast charging up to 100 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 31 minutes. The vehicle's regenerative braking system also helps extend range in stop-and-go traffic.

"We designed the VF6 to be a versatile daily driver that can handle both city commutes and weekend getaways," said a VinFast spokesperson. "This test confirms that our EV technology is reliable and efficient for all types of journeys."

The VF6's interior features a 12.9-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a host of advanced driver-assistance systems including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

With a starting price of around $27,000, the VinFast VF6 positions itself as a competitive option in the growing compact electric SUV segment, offering a blend of practicality, technology, and real-world range that defies the city-only stereotype.
