One of Warframe's oldest playable Warframes is finally getting a much-needed new kit. Banshee, a sound-based frame introduced in the game's first year, will receive a mechanical makeover in the upcoming fall update, Iceblade of Narin.
Banshee's current kit focuses on crowd control, allowing her to push, stagger, and stun enemies with sonic powers, as well as apply a debuff that highlights weak spots. However, as the game has evolved since its 2013 debut, many newer Warframes have surpassed her in crowd control and damage capabilities.
"It used to be the best kit in the game due to how important crowd control was," said Warframe creative director Rebecca Ford. "Think of all the Warframes that have come out since 2013 that touched that crowd control itch and are just as complicated as they get now in 2026."
Community director Megan Everett noted that the team has added mods to increase weak-point damage and emphasized area-of-effect abilities with Blast damage, making Banshee's original design feel dated.
"It was time to put all of that into practice with the original crowd control and damage scaling frame that rewarded accuracy. So that's very much the thesis of her touch up," Ford added.
Banshee has dedicated fans who have been clamoring for a rework. At a recent Anime Expo, a fan literally stood up and pleaded, "Please rework Banshee." Digital Extremes routinely takes community feedback through Devstreams and events like TennoCon.
"We have kind of a running roster of what the community is actually hungry for," said Everett. "Banshee has been one of the top of the list for a good amount of time now… she is due."
The rework will launch as part of Warframe's fall update, Iceblade of Narin, alongside Deluxe skins for Banshee and Qorvex, a new ice-themed Warframe, and Citrine Prime.
