I have a steadfast opinion that I will defend until the end: sharing food is unhygienic and unappealing unless everyone follows rigorous rules. The casual passing of plates, dipping into communal sauces, and swapping forks can quickly turn a meal into a germ-fest. There must be clear boundaries: no double-dipping, no using your own utensils in shared dishes, and explicit consent before anyone helps themselves to your plate. Desserts and drinks are especially problematic, as people often assume sharing is welcome without asking. Establishing these rules isn't about being antisocial; it's about respecting personal space and hygiene. Without them, food-sharing is simply gross.
