Microsoft has refreshed the Windows Update Experience, introducing a new feature that lets users pause updates for an indefinite period. The update aims to give users more control over when their system installs patches and feature updates, addressing long-standing complaints about forced restarts and update timing.
With the new setting, users can hit pause and delay updates without a fixed expiration date — a significant change from previous versions that limited pauses to 35 days. Microsoft says this helps prevent interruptions during critical work or gaming sessions while still encouraging users to eventually install security updates.
The feature is rolling out to Windows Insiders first, with a broader release expected in the coming months.
