Anne Hathaway recently revealed a touching interaction with Taylor Swift during a 2024 Eras Tour concert in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, where the singer sent her a personal note that made the actress feel "so magical."

While attending the show while filming in the area, Hathaway described the electric atmosphere when Swift took the stage. "She came out on stage and it was like the whole place exploded," Hathaway recalled during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. "She makes the audience feel so loved and she made me feel so loved."

Initially doubting her own starstruck reaction, Hathaway joked to herself, "Oh my God, Annie, you’re so cute. You think Taylor Swift’s waving at you right now." To her surprise, a crew member soon approached her with a message from Swift.

"Somebody tapped me on the shoulder and they said, 'Taylor wants you to have this,'" Hathaway shared. "I open it and it was a note where Taylor said, 'I’m so happy you’re here. I’m going to be enthusiastically waving at you.' I was like, 'Oh my God! She’s so magical! She did the thing! And I was right! I am special!'"

The Oscar-winning actress also revealed that her character in the upcoming film Mother Mary—a pop star—was inspired by Swift's vulnerability in the 2020 documentary Miss Americana, along with other artists like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

"Pop stars, who we’re so used to seeing in their power and so polished, what happens when they’re in-between moments and they’re having a moment of metamorphosis which can be so painful," Hathaway explained, highlighting how Swift's openness influenced her portrayal.

Swift herself has spoken about navigating public life, recently noting on the New Heights podcast that after two decades in the music industry, "It's pretty hard to hurt my feelings at this point." She emphasized setting boundaries, adding, "Something can be about me, my name can be in the actual headline, and it can still be none of my business."
