Barry Manilow has pushed back his upcoming Las Vegas residency performances while he continues to recuperate from lung cancer surgery.
The singer, who revealed in December that he had a cancerous spot removed from his lung, shared an update on Instagram on May 2. He said his doctor noted “great progress” but advised he was “not quite ready for Vegas,” leading to the cancellation of his May shows at the Westgate Las Vegas.
Manilow assured fans he expects to return to the Westgate stage in July and remains on track for his June arena tour across the UK. The UK leg kicks off on June 9 in Glasgow and wraps at London’s O2 Arena on June 17.
The 82-year-old entertainer initially had surgery in December after a precautionary MRI caught the cancer early, avoiding the need for chemo or radiation. He later canceled Valentine’s weekend concerts and postponed his farewell arena tour after a follow-up visit revealed his lungs weren’t ready.
“All the training and exercising I’ve put in is paying off,” Manilow wrote, promising fans: “The Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home and I’ll see you all in July.”
Tickets for his UK shows remain available through Ticketmaster.
