Darrell Sheets, the charismatic and popular star of A&E's reality television series "Storage Wars," has died at the age of 67. The news was confirmed by authorities in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
According to the Lake Havasu Police Department, officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at Sheets's residence around 2:00 AM on Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body has been transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office for an official determination.
Sheets, affectionately known to fans as "The Gambler," was a mainstay on "Storage Wars" for years, appearing in 163 episodes. His sharp eye for valuable items hidden within abandoned storage lockers and his bold bidding style made him a fan favorite. Following his retirement from the show, he relocated to Lake Havasu, Arizona, where he operated an antique shop named Havasu Show Me Your Junk.
A&E, the network behind "Storage Wars," released a statement expressing their grief: "We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell 'The Gambler' Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
Sheets had faced health challenges in recent years. In March 2019, he was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack, which required subsequent surgery. Beyond his television career, Sheets made guest appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Rachael Ray's" cooking series.
