The enigmatic Scottish electronic duo Boards of Canada has ended their 13-year hiatus with the announcement of their fifth studio album, 'Inferno,' set for release on May 29, 2026, via Warp Records. The album will feature 18 tracks, marking their first major project since 2013's 'Tomorrow's Harvest.'

Fans first caught wind of the duo's return through a cryptic poster campaign that surfaced last week in cities including London, New York, California, and Shibuya. The posters featured designs reminiscent of the artwork from their iconic 1998 debut, 'Music Has The Right To Children,' sparking widespread speculation and excitement among followers.

In a statement, the band confirmed that 'Inferno' will be available in multiple formats, including a special edition limited red translucent 2xLP vinyl in a triple gatefold sleeve with a 16-page booklet, a standard black 2xLP vinyl, CD, and digital versions. Pre-orders are now live on their official website.

'Inferno' represents a long-awaited evolution for the duo, who have maintained a low profile over the past decade, with only sporadic releases like remixes, archival reissues, and an NTS DJ mix hinting at their continued creativity.

Adding to the mystery, a previously dormant website associated with the band—known for hosting clues—was recently revived with the message 'nobody home...' repeated in Morse code, further fueling anticipation for what promises to be a landmark release in their storied career.
