Boston Marathon Good Samaritan: ‘We All Need a Win’ After Viral Rescue Video

A Boston Marathon runner whose spontaneous act of kindness was caught on camera and shared widely has spoken about the power of feel-good stories in challenging times.

Aaron Beggs, 38, was nearing the finish line of the 26.2-mile race when he noticed a fellow runner collapsing from exhaustion. Without hesitation, Beggs and another competitor named Dan dropped their own paces to help the struggling man to his feet and guide him across the finish line.

The moment was captured by a spectator and quickly spread across social media, amassing millions of views.

“People are hungry for good news,” Beggs told reporters. “We all need a win right now, and that’s why this video resonated.”

Beggs, who has a background in strength and conditioning coaching, said his training kicked in instinctively. “I just saw someone in trouble and reacted. That’s what any of us would do.”

The trio finished the marathon together, with the collapsed runner later expressing gratitude for the unexpected teamwork.

Beggs hopes the story encourages others to look out for one another, both on and off the racecourse.
