Brazil Central Bank Bans Stablecoins for International Remittances

The Central Bank of Brazil has issued BCB Resolution No. 561, prohibiting the use of stablecoins and cryptocurrencies for settling international remittances. The regulation, set to take effect on October 1, 2025, will require remittance companies to adjust their business models. Notably, cryptocurrency trading remains legal within the country. This move aims to tighten oversight of cross-border financial flows while still allowing digital asset investments.
