Garry Chapman, son of reality TV star Duane "Dog" Chapman, has been named Patrol Officer of the Year by ACE Interdiction for his 2025 performance as a Criminal Apprehension Specialist. The award comes just months after a high-speed chase that ended in a fatal crash and led to his firing and reinstatement.
ACE Interdiction announced the honor Sunday, citing Chapman's arrest and drug seizure statistics as the basis for the award. He reportedly had the highest narcotics seizure numbers in his county last year. The organization gives out only three such awards annually.
Chapman said the recognition was especially meaningful because fellow officers and command staff nominated him despite the controversies of the past year. His father, Dog the Bounty Hunter, was "stoked" upon hearing the news, particularly proud of the title "Criminal Apprehension Specialist."
In September 2025, Chapman was involved in a police pursuit that resulted in a crash killing a teenager and injuring others. He was placed on leave, then fired by the Priceville Police Department. After an appeal, the city council overturned the firing, imposing a 10-day unpaid suspension and allowing him to return to duty.
