Emilio Gay and David Bedingham smashed unbeaten centuries in a record-breaking third-wicket partnership of 290 to guide Durham to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Lancashire in the County Championship Division Two clash at the Riverside.
Chasing 336 for victory, Durham faced an early setback losing both openers in the morning session. However, Gay and Bedingham counter-attacked brilliantly, turning the match on its head. As the sun emerged and the ball softened, batting became increasingly comfortable, and the duo broke Durham's record for the highest third-wicket stand against Lancashire.
Gay, who has now scored two centuries this season, remained unbeaten on 159, while Bedingham finished 129 not out. Their effortless chases saw Durham reach 336-2, securing their second win of the season.
