GMA Network Posts 6% Profit Growth Fueled by Election Advertising Surge

MANILA, Philippines — GMA Network Inc. reported a 6% increase in net income for 2025, reaching P2.2 billion, driven primarily by a surge in election-related advertising that helped offset rising operational costs.

According to the company's annual report released this week, revenues grew by 3% to P18.12 billion, with advertising remaining the dominant revenue stream, accounting for over 90% of total income. Advertising revenues specifically increased by 2% to P16.57 billion, while consumer sales saw a more substantial 17% jump to P1.55 billion.

"On a per channel level, GMA7 continued to lead the pack in terms of total revenues, wrapping up the year with an upswing in sales due to the aforementioned influx of political advocacies and advertisements," the network stated in its report.

The company acknowledged that without the "extraordinary inflows" from election advertising in both 2024 and 2025, consolidated revenues from regular sources would have actually declined by 5%.

Despite the revenue growth, GMA faced significant cost pressures, with total operating expenses rising 5% to P15.54 billion. Production and direct costs increased by 6% to P8.88 billion, partly attributed to high-profile collaborations including "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" with ABS-CBN Studios and the midyear launch of "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre."

Other income also contributed to the improved bottom line, surging to P372.56 million from P60.03 million the previous year, boosted by commissions and revenues from GMA's talent management arm, Sparkle.

Cash flow, measured by earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, edged up 1% to P5.29 billion.

GMA maintained its position as the Philippines' top-ranked television station through the end of 2025, according to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement data, a position it has held since ABS-CBN went off the air in 2020 following the non-renewal of its broadcast franchise.
