A 44-year-old man is on the run after allegedly attacking high school students with a hammer-like object in Fussa City, Tokyo, on Wednesday. The Metropolitan Police Department has issued a nationwide arrest warrant for Teruyuki Takabayashi on suspicion of attempted murder.
According to police, Takabayashi struck two male students with the weapon, causing serious injuries. The victims were rushed to a hospital, but their conditions have not been disclosed. Authorities believe the attack was unprovoked and have urged the public to report any sightings of the suspect.
Takabayashi's mother, in an interview with local media, expressed regret and said, "I wish he had called the police before things got this big." She hinted that she had feared her son might cause trouble.
This is not the first time Takabayashi has been involved in a similar incident. Reports indicate he was previously arrested for a similar assault but was not prosecuted. The current manhunt continues, with police warning that he may still be armed.
