Tokyo police have issued a nationwide wanted notice for Teruyuki Takabayashi, 44, accused of attempting to murder a 17-year-old high school student by striking him with a hammer-like object in Fussa City. The suspect remains at large, and authorities are scouring Tokyo and neighboring prefectures.

According to investigators, the attack occurred on the evening of April 28. Takabayashi allegedly approached the victim from behind and struck him multiple times with a hammer, causing serious injuries. The victim was hospitalized but is in stable condition.

In a heartfelt plea, Takabayashi's mother told reporters, "I wish he would come forward and turn himself in. That would be best for everyone." She added that she had sensed trouble brewing and had tried to prevent her son from leaving the house that day.

Police have released surveillance footage showing Takabayashi walking near the crime scene. He is described as approximately 170 cm tall, with a medium build, and was last seen wearing a dark jacket and cap.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Fussa Police Station or the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's investigation hotline.
