Jutes Opens Up About Touring Life and Staying Connected with Demi Lovato

As musician Jutes prepares for his upcoming European and North American tours, he's facing the bittersweet reality of spending his first wedding anniversary apart from his wife, Demi Lovato. In an exclusive interview, the singer-songwriter shared how the couple plans to navigate this challenging time.

"It's one of those things where we get sad when we talk about it," Jutes admitted. "So we're like, 'We won't think about it yet.' It's gonna be tough, there's no way around that."

The 35-year-old artist, who married Lovato last May, expressed hope that such scheduling conflicts won't become a regular occurrence, calling the situation "really sucks." Despite the impending separation, Jutes maintains an optimistic outlook on their relationship.

"We're just gonna pretend," he explained. "As soon as tour is over and we're together, we're gonna celebrate and that'll be awesome. It's part of the job and we'll just have to FaceTime a ton and figure it out. We'll get through it."

While touring presents relationship challenges, Jutes remains enthusiastic about connecting with fans through his music. His European tour begins May 2, followed by his North American "Smile You're On Tour" in August—an endeavor he describes as "the biggest thing" he's ever done.

"People coming to the show is by far the most important thing to me," Jutes emphasized. "Streams and numbers on a screen are cool and metrics are cool to see that things are growing, but nothing is going to replace showing up and a bunch of fans being there singing your songs."

The Canadian musician, who funds his tours independently, explained how fan support directly enables his career growth: "For the fans out there, when they buy tickets to the tour or buy merch, they are funding directly the next tour."

Throughout the interview, Jutes repeatedly highlighted the mutual support that defines his relationship with Lovato. He described her as his biggest believer, noting that "she believes in me more than I believe in myself."

"We love to see each other win—seeing her win makes me feel better than seeing myself win," he shared.

Reflecting on their nearly year-long marriage, Jutes expressed continued amazement at their harmonious relationship, contrasting it with common narratives about marital struggles.

"You hear all these stories like, 'Marriage is tough,'" Jutes detailed. "And 'You're gonna fight and that's just part of marriage.' And I'm like, not for me. I keep getting surprised by like, 'Is that supposed to be happening? Should we pretend to fight or something?'"

As Jutes looks ahead to his busy summer schedule, he maintains that his priority remains clear: "I'm looking forward to falling more in love and hanging out with my best friend all the time."
