Kettering MP Resigns from Health Role After Wes Streeting Steps Down

Rosie Wrighting, the Labour MP for Kettering, has resigned as a parliamentary private secretary (PPS) in the Department of Health following the resignation of Health Secretary Wes Streeting.

Streeting stood down on Thursday, citing a loss of confidence in Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's leadership. Wrighting praised Streeting as a "generational talent" who "never shies away from the right principled decision, even in difficult times."

In a statement, Wrighting said politics must "change things for the good and offer people hope." On social media, she added that under Streeting's leadership, the NHS was "on the road to recovery" and called for an "open debate of ideas" about the way forward.

Wrighting had been appointed to the role last September and expressed delight at the time, saying she was pleased to support the ministerial team in reducing NHS waiting lists.
