Former NBA star Lamar Odom is opening up about his renewed commitment to sobriety, revealing he has reached 60 days completely clean after a recent DUI arrest.

Odom, who was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Las Vegas this past January, spoke candidly about his journey during recent interviews. "Right now I'm completely sober—I don't even drink alcohol," the 46-year-old said during an April appearance on Page Six Radio. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Reflecting on his understanding of addiction, Odom described it in medical terms. "If you do your education, addiction is where you suffer from a brain disease, just like cancer or any other disease," he explained. "I don't think anyone would wish to have cancer. So, me being educated on disease, the more and more I get educated, the more and more it's easier for me to stay sober."

Following his arrest, Odom completed a 30-day program at a Los Angeles recovery center where he deepened his understanding of addiction. In a March interview with USA Today, he shared, "I am almost 60 days completely sober. No pot, no alcohol. I think, with me, stopping the marijuana was probably the hardest."

The two-time NBA champion, who survived a near-fatal drug overdose in 2015, now sees his personal struggles as an opportunity to help others. "I have a certain type of mental and physical endurance, but when it comes to getting high and escaping, I'm just like everyone else," Odom continued. "If I could just help the average person and give them faith and hope that they can overcome it, then that's probably one of the reasons why the Lord spared me."

Odom emphasized the importance of mindset in maintaining sobriety, noting, "If you have an addictive mind, the last thing you want to do is feed it any type of drugs." His current focus remains firmly on his recovery and using his experience to support others facing similar challenges.
