Tanya Brown, sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson, is calling on the NFL to permanently retire the No. 32 jersey worn by O.J. Simpson during his Hall of Fame career. Speaking exclusively to TMZ ahead of the 32nd anniversary of the murders of Nicole and Ron Goldman, Tanya described the number as a painful reminder of the tragedy.
"Every time I see someone on the field with that number, it brings me back and I have trauma."
Tanya noted that this year marks 32 years since the killings, making June 12 especially significant. While she is not launching a formal campaign, she hopes her public plea will encourage the league to acknowledge the emotional weight the number carries.
If the NFL will not retire the jersey entirely, Tanya offered an alternative: dedicate the number to Nicole and Ron, allowing players to wear it in their memory. She is also urging people to join candlelight vigils on June 12 through the Flock of Angels Network, a grief-support community created in Nicole’s honor.
"I want people to think of Nicole and Ron when they see No. 32 — not O.J. Simpson."
