The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced that more than 1,300 Filipino seafarers have successfully traversed the Strait of Hormuz without incident, providing reassurance to families and the maritime community.
In a statement, the DMW confirmed that all reported Filipino crew members aboard vessels passing through the critical waterway have been accounted for and are safe. The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, has been a focal point of regional tensions, raising concerns for the welfare of seafarers working in the area.
"We have monitored the situation closely and are relieved that our seafarers have crossed safely," a DMW official said. The agency continues to coordinate with international maritime authorities and manning agencies to ensure the protection of Filipino workers at sea.
The announcement comes amid heightened security in the region, but no incidents involving Filipino seafarers have been reported. The DMW urged all Filipino maritime workers to remain vigilant and to report any safety concerns promptly.
