Paranormal Author and YouTuber David Wilcock Dies at 53 in Apparent Self-Harm Incident

David Wilcock, a prominent figure in the paranormal and spiritual communities known for his YouTube channel and bestselling books, has died at age 53. Authorities in Boulder County, Colorado, confirmed his death occurred on April 20 following what appeared to be a mental health crisis.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 10:44 a.m. regarding an "unknown problem," with emergency communications specialists suspecting the caller was experiencing a mental health emergency. Upon arrival at a residence near Nederland, Colorado, deputies encountered a man—later identified as Wilcock—outside with an undisclosed weapon. Shortly after, the man used the weapon on himself and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials stated they searched the property and found no one else involved. The Boulder County Coroner's Office is now working to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Wilcock had been active on YouTube until shortly before his death, posting his last video on April 19. His content primarily explored topics at the intersection of science and spirituality, earning him a substantial following. Beyond his digital presence, Wilcock was a New York Times bestselling author, a frequent guest on History Channel's Ancient Aliens, and starred in the documentary film Above Majestic.

His social media activity showed a pattern of extended absences followed by humorous returns. In July 2024, he announced his comeback to Instagram after a three-year hiatus, writing, "I am back! I am finally feeling like posting again, so here we are!" Previously, in April 2021, he joked about his disappearance with a post captioned, "What Happened to David Challenge?" inviting followers to share "ridiculous and hilarious" theories about his absence.

No representative for Wilcock was immediately available for comment. The incident has drawn attention to mental health resources, with authorities reminding those in crisis to contact support services like the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
