Three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty has taken a decisive step toward his fourth Olympic appearance, securing victory in the 100m breaststroke at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships in London.
Peaty, 31, clocked a time of 58.97 seconds to claim the British title, fending off a spirited challenge from teenage contenders Filip Nowacki (59.39 seconds) and Max Morgan (59.56 seconds). The result not only earned Peaty the championship but also secured his spot on the British team for this summer's European Aquatics Championships in Paris alongside Nowacki.
"We've got some talented youngsters coming through the pool," Peaty remarked after the race. "I'm not talking about this year, it's about LA for me, and these boys are going to challenge me the whole way."
His performance ranks as the second-fastest in the world this year, signaling a strong return to form as he sets his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The decision to continue his career was solidified nearly a year ago, particularly after the 50m breaststroke was added to the Olympic program for LA—offering Peaty a chance to pursue additional individual gold beyond the 100m titles he won in 2016 and 2021.
Other notable winners from Tuesday's session included James Guy in the 400m, Imogen Clark in the 50m breaststroke, and Eva Okaro in the 100m freestyle. The championships will award British titles across 36 medal events throughout the week.
