A new poll reveals a tight three-way contest in the Pyeongtaek-eui National Assembly by-election, with Democratic Party candidate Kim Yong-nam (28.8%) leading, followed by People Power Party’s Yoo Ui-dong (22.5%) and Cho Kuk Innovation Party leader Cho Kuk (22.2%). Former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn of the Liberty and Innovation Party garnered 8.9%, while Progressive Party co-chair Kim Jae-yeon received 8.8%.

Among likely voters, Kim Yong-nam was the only candidate to break 30%, widening his lead over Cho Kuk. Opinions were split on the need for unification among progressive and conservative blocs. Over half of progressive voters supported a unified progressive candidate, while a majority of conservative and People Power Party supporters favored unifying the conservative field.

In a hypothetical three-way race for Gyeonggi Province governor in Pyeongtaek-eui, former Democratic Party lawmaker Choo Mi-ae led with nearly 50%, far ahead of People Power Party Supreme Council member Yang Hyang-ja.

Meanwhile, in Hanam-gap, Democratic Party candidate Lee Kwang-jae (45.6%) outpaced People Power Party’s Lee Yong (37.0%). The poll also showed Democratic Party leading in party support at 36.4%, followed by People Power Party at 24.2%, Cho Kuk Innovation Party at 14.7%, Progressive Party at 8.1%, and Reform Party at 2.3%.
