Rain or Shine delivered a historic shooting performance on Tuesday night, sinking a record-breaking 22 three-pointers to defeat Terrafirma 125-98 and maintain their perfect 7-0 record in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
From the opening tip, the Elasto Painters showcased their offensive firepower, connecting on 22 of 45 attempts from beyond the arc. This remarkable display shattered the previous franchise record of 19 three-pointers and established a new league benchmark for the current conference.
"Our players executed the game plan perfectly," said head coach Yeng Guiao. "When we shoot like that, we're very difficult to beat."
Leading the charge was import Nick Evans, who contributed 28 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 6-of-10 from three-point range. Local standout Rey Nambatac added 24 points, including five three-pointers, as Rain or Shine built a commanding 30-point lead by the third quarter.
The victory extends Rain or Shine's winning streak to seven games, putting them in sole possession of first place in the standings. Their perfect start represents the franchise's best opening to a conference since the 2016 Commissioner's Cup.
Terrafirma, despite a valiant 32-point effort from import Antonio Hester, couldn't contain the Elasto Painters' perimeter assault. The Dyip fell to 2-5 in the standings, struggling to find answers for Rain or Shine's offensive onslaught.
Rain or Shine's next challenge comes against the defending champions on Friday, where they'll look to extend their winning streak and solidify their position as the conference's top team.
