Rolls-Royce Unveils Exclusive Electric Convertible: Only 100 'Project Nightingale' Models to Be Built

Luxury automaker Rolls-Royce has revealed its latest masterpiece—a two-seater electric convertible named "Project Nightingale." The company announced that only 100 of these exclusive vehicles will be handcrafted at its Goodwood headquarters in West Sussex, with deliveries expected to begin in 2028.

This electric model promises a nearly silent driving experience, as the company noted that being pure electric results in "virtually no mechanical noise." The announcement comes just a month after Rolls-Royce backtracked on its earlier commitment to sell only electric cars by 2030, stating it would continue offering petrol-engine vehicles beyond that date.

Project Nightingale draws inspiration from the brand's experimental EX models of the 1920s and the Art Deco era. Measuring 5.76 meters in length—comparable to the flagship Phantom sedan—the vehicle features a long bonnet that creates a distinctive "torpedo-shaped form."

Chris Brownridge, chief executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, explained the vision behind the project: "Some of the most discerning Rolls-Royce clients in the world asked us for our most ambitious work. We responded by bringing three things together that have never co-existed in our brand: the complete design freedom of coachbuilding, our powerful, near-silent all-electric powertrain, and a uniquely potent yet serene expression of open-top motoring."

Brownridge described Project Nightingale as "the most extravagant expression of what Rolls-Royce is capable of today." While the company typically doesn't disclose pricing, it indicated this model would fall between its Private Commission and Coachbuild offerings, which industry estimates place between £500,000 and £20 million.
