Rangers midfielder Jodi McLeary has received her first senior Scotland call-up, replacing Celtic's Maria McAneny in the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Belgium.
McAneny, 21, who has earned two caps for the national team, was unavailable for selection after missing Celtic's 3-0 defeat to Rangers in the Scottish Women's Premier League on Monday.
Her absence has opened the door for 20-year-old McLeary, who started that derby match in an unfamiliar right-back position as Rangers climbed to second place in the league table. While McLeary has represented Scotland at various youth levels, this marks her first invitation to the senior squad.
Scotland head coach Melissa Andreatta will lead her team against Belgium in a crucial double-header. The first match is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 April, at Easter Road Stadium in Edinburgh, with the return fixture taking place the following Saturday at Den Dreef Stadium in Leuven.
Both teams enter these qualifiers with perfect records, having won their opening two matches. Scotland currently tops Europe's Group H on goal difference after a convincing victory over Luxembourg, while Belgium secured a comfortable win against Israel.
