Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson has praised her out-of-contract players for showcasing their talents during the recent Women's World Cup qualifiers, putting themselves firmly in the shop window for potential clubs.
Defender Gemma Evans, along with forwards Hannah Cain and Elise Hughes, all featured prominently in victories over Montenegro and the Czech Republic despite uncertain club futures. Evans has since been linked with a move to Newcastle United after leaving Liverpool, while Cain and Hughes are still awaiting news on their next destinations.
"I think they've done everything they can to put themselves in the shop window," Wilkinson said.
Cain scored her sixth goal in six qualifying games against Montenegro, just days after announcing her departure from Leicester City following their relegation from the Women's Super League. Hughes, who helped Crystal Palace earn promotion to the WSL, also revealed she is leaving the club. Forward Tianna Teisar is also without a club after being released by Bristol City.
Wilkinson acknowledged the uncertainty is part of the end-of-season landscape but stressed her desire to see her players settled. "It's tough because I want my players to be in the best possible situations at club level," she said. "I hope very much I can give them any support to make sure they have a club as soon as possible."
Wales will return to action in October for a two-legged play-off semi-final, aiming to qualify for their first Women's World Cup. The draw for opponents takes place on 18 June.
