A man armed with a handgun robbed a chocolate shop in Manila on Wednesday, escaping with cash and several mobile phones, police reported.
The incident occurred at around 3 p.m. at a confectionery store in the city's downtown area. The suspect, described as being in his 30s and wearing a cap and face mask, entered the store and brandished a firearm at employees and customers.
He demanded money from the cash register and then forced staff to hand over their cellphones. After collecting the loot, he fled on foot. No injuries were reported.
Police are reviewing security camera footage to identify the suspect. Authorities have not yet determined if the robbery was premeditated or opportunistic.
The chocolate shop has since resumed operations.
