Gamers and brick builders alike have a new dose of nostalgia to look forward to. Following successful recreations of the Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600, and Sega Genesis, Lego has officially partnered with Sony to release a nearly life-sized, buildable replica of the original PlayStation console.

Retailing for $179.99, the 1,911-piece set lets fans meticulously assemble the iconic grey console and its classic controller. The highly anticipated kit will be available early for Lego Insiders starting October 1, ahead of a general public release on October 4 via Lego's official website.

Beyond a simple static model, the Lego PlayStation features clever interactive elements that pay homage to gaming history. Builders can press a functional "Open" button on the console to trigger a spring-loaded lid. Inside the disc drive, fans won't find a CD, but rather a massive blocky "PS" logo alongside miniature brick dioramas celebrating late-90s classics Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.

Designated as an 18+ build, the final model measures just over 2.5 inches high, 10.5 inches wide, and 7.5 inches deep. In terms of complexity, it sits comfortably in the middle of Lego's retro gaming lineup—offering a more robust build than the 480-piece Sega Genesis, but serving as a slightly lighter project than the massive 2,646-piece NES or the 2,532-piece Atari 2600.
